Direttissima Growth Partners, a new equity firm focussed on scaleups at the intersection of digitalization and sustainability, announces the successful initial closing of its debut growth fund with a target volume of €120M. Direttissima has offices in Zurich and Munich. One of the three founding partners is Swiss serial entrepreneur Philipp Bolliger.

Astrocast, a leading global nanosatellite IoT network operator, delisted from Euronext Growth. The company, which has recorded strong growth this year despite harsh conditions, is looking for new funding and has realised that some potential investors are not investing in public companies. Oslo Børs has delisted Astrocast on 20 August in line with the company's application filed on May 31.

With the asset acquisition of MarketLab’s shelf audit automation technology, Scandit is positioned to provide an efficient hybrid data capture approach for retailers to maximize sales and optimize on-shelf performance. Based in Poland, MarketLab’s expert team will join Scandit to build and expand the new offering.

The newly founded company Octotronic AG is a result of a fusion between Visense, which developed a smart error diagnosis solution and Octotronic, specialists in smart factory architecture. The leadership team comprises members from both startups.

Swiss biotech Vandria SA, a company developing small molecule drugs to treat age-related and chronic diseases, announced the second closing of its Series A financing bringing the final amount raised to date to $30.7M (CHF28.3M). Hevolution Foundation and Dolby Family Ventures joined the lead founding venture investor ND Capital. Reporting rapid progress, the startup has also secured CHF 4.2M from Innosuisse and Eurostars.

ETH Zurich spin-off Optiml AG supports the decarbonization of real estate with a scalable AI-powered software solution. The start-up completed 30 successful pilot projects with major industry players and is now onboarding first large Asset Managers and Consultancies. The capital will be used to accelerate the development of the solution and expand its team to serve the increasing customer demand.

Basel-based digital health pioneer Genedata has been acquired by Danaher Corporation, a leading global life sciences and diagnostics innovator with total revenues of USD24 billion in 2024. Danaher intends to continue expanding Genedata’s capabilities to address new technologies and requirements.

Basel-based SunRegen Healthcare AG has entered into a binding Letter of Intent dated August 12, 2024 with Verisante Technology Inc, a company listed on the Canadian TSX Venture Exchange, to undertake a Reverse Takeover transaction with the resulting listed issuer carrying on the business of SunRegen. SunRegen focusses on the development of neurodegenerative related drugs. 

Accelerators and award competitions not only offer attractive prices but also access to industry players to help startups fuel their development. Three startups joined multi-week  programs organized by NVIDIA, the Nordic Health Lab and Amazon Web Services, while two won prizes for their sustainable solutions.

Grossunternehmen fordern für ihre eigenen Berichterstattungen vermehrt Nachhaltigkeitsberichte bei ihren Zulieferern, darunter auch Startups, ein. Das praxisnahe Tool, dessen Entwicklung unsere Partnerin UBS unterstützt hat, reduziert den Aufwand für die Erstellung eines Nachhaltigkeitsberichtes und verringert so mögliche finanzielle Einbussen durch verlorene Aufträge.

Zurich-based startup Apheros is developing cooling solutions for data centers and the high-power computing industry. Its high-performance metal foams maximize heat dissipation, optimize fluid flow, and reduce energy consumption. The company has raised $1.85m in its pre-seed funding round to accelerate the development and deployment of its solution. 

The fall 2024 edition Swiss Collider program in Boston and New York features six Swiss startups with solutions focusing on sustainable energy, decarbonizing the agriculture sector and coastal ecosystems. The program will kick off on September 16, with highlights such as exploring Boston's climatetech ecosystem and participating in Climate Week NYC.
