In a milestone achievement, Renens-based Inergio recently announced the delivery of its first power units to customers in Europe and North America. The cleantech startup led by Mahmoud Hadad and Luc Conti is seeing growing demand for its new generation of power packs based on highly efficient fuel cell technology offering the unique advantage of fuel flexibility.
Inergio's green power units are already meeting customer needs, marking the start of exciting growth for the startup headquartered in Renens. Recently, the CEO and founder Mahmoud Hadad celebrated the first deliveries to customers in Austria, France, the UK, Canada and the USA. In total, the company has almost 15 customers, a number it hopes to exceed in the coming months.
The Vaud-based startup is today working on various European and North American projects requiring off-grid power, such as traffic management, video surveillance cameras for production sites, avalanche protection and environmental monitoring. Further details on projects and customers are expected in the coming months.
Inergio, a spin-off from EPFL and HEIG-VD, is developing an innovative, modular, lightweight and efficient power system that provides clean electricity wherever it is needed. The modular fuel cell power system enables unlimited scaling, making the technology suitable for applications ranging from IoT devices with watts of consumptions to backup power solutions reaching 100s kW power output.
The startup's compact fuel cells can run on any fuel source, offering the unique advantage of “fuel flexibility”. Its fuel cells are compatible with current widely available fuels such as propane (liquid fuel) and natural gas, and it with hydrogen, biogas, ammonia, making them totally environmentally friendly when this fuel becomes commercially available. Thanks to its scalable technology, its product range extends from 200 W to 2.5 kW systems, enabling the startup to meet the diverse energy needs of the market. From off-grid industries to stand-alone robotic systems to backup power systems.
Expanding the Renens assembly line
Talking about the future, co-founder and CEO Mahmoud Hadad says: “Our current focus is on expanding our assembly line and strengthening our business development team. If you'd like to join a dynamic team shaping the future, please don't hesitate to contact us.” Over the next 12 months, Inergio plans to produce up to 100 power units per year in Renens. Eventually, the company aims to increase production to 1,000 units in the canton of Vaud.
