First nexBio Amazônia program kicks off in Brazil

Today, a delegation of 14 Swiss and Brazilian entrepreneurs and five researchers will arrive in Pará, Brazil for the two-week nexBio Amazônia program to develop efficient and sustainable solutions in the bioeconomy production chain. Swissnex in Brazil will provide full support and various connections with Brazilian ecosystems.

The main objective of the first edition of nexBio Amazônia is to initiate sustainable, short-term, easy, and quick-to-implement technological solutions that improve the sustainability and efficiency of existing production chains. To achieve this, the program, organised by Swissnex in Brazil and supported by several partners, offers startups and researchers the opportunity experience an immersive experience through the Brazilian bioeconomy ecosystem, focused on the state of Pará, to exchange with mentors, peers, and experts, hear from potential customers, learn about local culture and regulations, validate their market and research hypothesis in the Brazilian environment, and learn the possibilities to profit from revolutionizing sustainable supply chains of local high-value forest products.  

From July 22 to August 2, seven Swiss and seven Brazilian startups along with five researchers will participate in the program. The Swiss companies are: 

Inverto Earth | Cameron Dowd —  leverages advanced technologies, such as drones, to support large-scale coastal ecosystem restoration. Businesses and individuals can adopt its 3×3 meter units of coastal wetlands, and with its technologies, allows them to plant, monitor, and collect high-resolution data on climate, biodiversity, and social impacts, ensuring the restoration process is transparent and measurable.

Amazomel | Dieter Bratschi — is a Swiss-Brazilian joint venture founded in 2017 dedicated to producing and commercializing organic honey from the Amazon rainforest, thereby contributing to conserving the rainforest and its indigenous communities and enabling them to create sustainable income.

Burrus Development Group | Dr. Inès Burrus — founded in 2022 and based in Geneva, the company created develops digital solutions aimed at fostering sustainable agriculture and improving the financial well-being of smallholder farmers. 

Foodflows | Matthias König — has a direct trade model, connecting consumers directly with farm collectives in Brazil for popular food items such as Brazilian green coffees and dried coffee cherries.

INERGIO | Eric Romersa — designs and produces lightweight and compact fuel cells that can operate on a wide variety of fuels. 

Lynx Technologies | Rodrigo Lorca — offers a B2B platform that connects brands to their supply chain partners, from manufacturing to reverse logistics. This accelerates response to product quality issues and decreases liability risk through real-time end-to-end supply chain traceability.

SwissDeCode | Gianpaolo Rando — helps farmers and food manufacturers to grow and produce high quality products by offering a variety of rapid, on-site DNA testing solutions. 

The Brazilian startups are : Pix Force, Amaztrace, Sensações Amazônicas, In Amazon, Cacaus Biocosmeticos, Da Tribu and SERINGÔ.
