With the launch of Ascento Research, the security robotics startup is offering a new version of its advanced 2-wheel-legged mobile robot designed specifically for research purposes. To achieve its goal of empowering robotics researchers, Ascento has partnered with MYBOTSHOP, the leading distributor of robotics products in Europe, to serve this customer segment.
Ascento provides robotic guards that can be hired by the hour to patrol large, outdoor, private properties. The accompanying Ascento Web App analyzes video and images with AI, integrates with existing video management systems, provides end-to-end encrypted two-way communication, and offers powerful reports for security managers. Since its launch, Ascento Guard has been operating reliably in any weather conditions, securing customers' premises day and out.
The startup has built a strong customer base not only in Switzerland with clients such as Planzer, Stadler and SBB, but also in Germany with the Bildingscampus Heilbronn. Most recently the company expanded into the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg). Typical applications for Ascento Guard are to secure their data centers, manufacturing facilities, logistics hubs, headquarters and energy production facilities.
Building on this initial success and increasing demand in academic space, the startup has launched Ascento Research, a new version of its advanced 2-wheel-legged mobile robot designed specifically for research purposes. Built on Ascento's renowned patent-pending wheel-leg design, Ascento Research offers universities, research labs, and corporate innovation centers a state-of-the-art solution to explore mobile robotics from a new perspective. Ascento Research combines the agility of quadrupeds and the usability of wheeled robots, making it ideal for experimentation in various environments and terrains. Researchers can leverage its versatility for projects ranging from robotic navigation, artificial intelligence, and all-terrain locomotion research.
The collaboration with MYBOTSHOP, one of the largest distributors of robotics and research platforms in Europe, will distribute Ascento Research to the research community and provide comprehensive support to customers. With its adaptable design, Ascento Research is well-suited for both indoor labs and outdoor field tests. The platform's built-in sensors, advanced computing capabilities, and integration flexibility thanks to MYBOTSHOP’s expertise, make it a unique tool for exploration. The device is already available with the first academic customers using it.
Daniel Kottlarz, Founder of MYBOTSHOP, commented: "We are thrilled to partner with Ascento to introduce Ascento Research to the academic world. This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and providing robust platforms that empower researchers to push the boundaries of robotics."
“Ascento Research allows us to double down on what works well (building and distributing great security robots, Ascento Guard), whilst also allowing us to leverage the unique capabilities of our patented robot design more by selling the platform to researchers via Mybotshop to push what is possible with the system. We have been asked about this for years and with Mybotshop we found a partner with which we can deliver this service effectively. Mybotshop has a tremendous amount of experience when it comes to research products,” said Alessandro Morra, co-founder and CEO of Ascento.
