In addition to closing a strategic funding round, Arktis Radiation Detectors, a provider of advanced radiation detection and protection technologies, has strengthened its Board of Directors. The acquired capital and expertise from new board members will accelerate expansion into new markets and sectors.

Founded in 2007 as a spin-off of ETH Zurich and CERN, Arktis Radiation Detectors develops and manufactures advanced systems for detecting and identifying radiological and nuclear materials to enhance security and facilitate operations. The company’s Arktis FPG radiation detecting drone can map an area of 100’000 m2 in a single flight of 20 minutes, with the system being about 50 x more sensitive than typical drone-based detectors. This device delivers optimal coverage for the seaport and airport security sector, and seamless integration into existing infrastructure while requiring minimal training to operators. With headquarters in Zurich, Arktis supports governments, critical infrastructure operators, and the private sector.

In a new financing round, the company obtained strategic investment from returning and new investors to support its planned expansion into new markets and sectors. Additionally, Arktis has reinforced its Board of Directors with industry leaders whose expertise will help steer the company through its next chapter of innovation and market leadership.

“This investment and the expansion of our board build on the strong foundation laid to date, and signal continued confidence in Arktis’ vision and potential. With added strategic depth and renewed momentum, we are well-positioned to scale our impact and advance radiation detection and protection technologies for global security and operational Excellence”, said Ulisse Gendotti, CEO of Arktis.

The new board composition is as follows:

Matthias Franz, Chairman of the Board, is a seasoned executive with over 35 years in the radiation industry. He has held senior roles at Fuji Film X-Ray, Mirion Technologies, Elekta AB, and IBA Dosimetry. Most recently, he served as President and General Manager of Accuray International (EIMEA). His deep global experience and strategic acumen will be instrumental in driving Arktis’ growth and international presence.

Paul Schenker, Member of the Board, is a serial investor, who provides strategic and financial leadership grounded in decades of impact financing across healthcare, diagnostics, and environmental safety. At Arktis, he is committed to advancing radiation detection, protection, and control—an essential frontier for global safety, environmental protection, and abundant clean energy.

Rick Rowe, Advisor to the Board, brings deep expertise in security technologies. After leading significant sales divisions at Honeywell, he became President of MCMS, an $800M contract manufacturer later acquired by Plexus. He went on to found SafeView, a company whose millimeter-wave security portals are now widely used at airports worldwide.
