Going global with ABB and other strong partners

DataCenterVision develops software for comprehensive data centre management and has just finalised a global distribution agreement with ABB. The reason for this: the software from the young company is in demand from a wide range of clients. “We were amazed to see a start-up company like DataCenterVision chosen by global leaders and significant customers in all industries: luxury, insurance, banking, watchmaking,” says Wolfgang Felber, Group Vice President & Systems Group Manager at ABB Switzerland.
DataCenterVision is not the only company targeting the global market with a strong partner. In future LEDs could be produced with Swiss technology. The EV Group (EVG), a world leader in wafer-processing, has launched a system designed specifically for the cost-efficient volume production of photonic components such as LEDs. It is the first fully automated production equipment to feature technology from Swiss start-up Eulitha AG.
InSphero is already one step further. The company, which makes micro tissue for testing drugs and chemicals, has opened a subsidiary in Germany in order to supply its EU customers more quickly.
DataCenterVision is in the CTI Start-up coaching programme, and both Eulitha and InSphero already carry the CTI Start-up Label. These companies demonstrate the potential of CTI training, and the same applies to the three young firms that were awarded the label this week: Cassantec, Designergy and Urban Farmers.
In addition to coaching, the CTI programme provides another important advantage - the opportunity for start-ups to present at Swiss Venture Days: 50% of companies that present there find investors. That’s a good outlook for the 10 start-ups that will be at Swiss Venture Day in Zurich on 11 December.
Two tips for next week: on 3 December Manuel Grenacher, founder of coresystems and Mila, will be the guest at the third Startup Grind in Zurich - Mila’s partnership with Swisscom has attracted attention this week. And on 4 November an event in Basel is dedicated to the question: “How can Swiss start-ups attract more venture capital?”.
