High-tech meets mobility
Dear reader
Swiss Venture Night took place on Thursday at the International Conference Centre CICG in Geneva. startupticker was there – read our report on the prize giving and EPFL spin-off BestMile, which won three of the four awards.
BestMile has developed a management software for on-demand bus systems with autonomous vehicles; a pilot project will start at the EPFL campus in March.
Intelligent mobility, however, is not only in demand in metropolitan areas, but also in the countryside. The solution could be Taxito: the start-up from Bern has developed a system that is a cross between hitching a lift and using a private taxi. The test region will be in the Lucerne hinterland.
The mobility of the future inspires creative forces, but the financial industry also has prospects that inspire an increasing number of engineers and founders. Investor Polytech Ventures is building a fintech incubator together with software company Temenos in the centre of Geneva.
Zug-based eCollect no longer needs an incubator: the company develops solutions for online money collection and already has 25 employees. Also on track are financial advisor MoneyPark and Contovista in Zurich, which has developed a system for personal finance management and has just entered into a partnership with Aargau-based banking software manufacturer Finnova.
And there was a funding this week: EPFL spin-off Flyability – which develops flying robots – has brought an international group of business angels on board. The next round of funding is already planned.
Still on the subject of money, SECA will present new facts and research on the topics of growth financing and start-ups and their economic importance next Friday in Zurich.
Have a good weekend.
