Startups Lightly and Sonixapp are at the forefront of artificial intelligence, enhancing machine learning models and providing ultra-low-latency communication for the gaming industry, respectively. In the food sector, Nexenic promotes healthy eating with its smart lunchbox. The companies have demonstrated their readiness to scale and have received the Innosuisse Certificate as a result.

The Innosuisse Certificate is a prestigious recognition, awarded to startups that have completed Innosuisse Start-up Core Coaching, signifying a company’s growth and success in their market. To earn this certification, companies undergo a thorough evaluation process that assesses several factors, including technological innovation, financial stability, intellectual property, and organizational structure.

The following ICT and consumer products startups have been deemed ready for further growth.

Lightly (ICT)
Organisations creating artificial intelligence driven solutions should enable organisations to understand their data in order to make their models robust. This however involves substantial time and cost investment. Lightly’s data curation platform for machine learning simplifies the process.
Lightly optimizes AI model training by selecting the most valuable data, reducing redundancy and bias while improving performance. Founded in 2019 by Igor Susmelj who sought more efficient ways to manage and label datasets used in deep learning, the startup co-founded by Matthias Heller developed a solution that helps machine learning teams to analyse and curate their data before AI model training. Their state-of-the-art active learning platform helps scale machine-learning pipelines by identifying the most interesting data samples. Combining different inputs, such as embeddings, predictions, and metadata with algorithms such as core-set and uncertainty sampling, this results in up to 20% higher model accuracy while reducing data related costs by up to 10x. Enabling its customers to improve the quality of AI models and to cut costs at the same time, Lightly has been making strides in the industry and today serves some of the world’s leading organisations.

Tyxit (ICT)
Based in Yverdon-les-Bains (Vaud), Tyxit is the company behind the Sonixapp. Designed for gamers, Sonixapp is a voice chat application that uses AI technology to deliver ultra-low latency, zero-echo, and zero-noise voice communication. This allows players to gain reactivity, coordination, and therefore efficiency. With more than 10k downloads in the Google Play Store alone, the app has overall seen a 400% growth in monthly users during the past four months. This achievement aligns well with the recently received Innosuisse Certificate, which recognises the company’s readiness for growth.

Nexenic (Consumer Products)
Outside the AI space is Nexenic, a Winterthur based startup specialising in innovative food steaming devices. The company developed smart and portable steamer steasy to allow users to heat up their meals gently and efficiently – no microwave, oven or power socket needed. The steaming technology ensures vegetables retain their vitamins and nutrients, while meat stays moist and succulent. Additionally, the accompanying app allows users to heat up their meals in advance without being close to the device. The steamer was officially launched in Summer 2024.
