Swiss Airtainer is collaborating with Delta Cargo, a US-based air freight service provider, to utilize its smart containers for the secure transport of pharmaceutical and temperature-sensitive products. Meanwhile, Assaia’s ApronAI solution will be implemented at Rome's Fiumicino Airport to improve operations for the airport, airlines, and ground, marking a significant advancement in airport management technology.
Following their partnership with Swiss Airtainer, Delta Cargo has become the first U.S. carrier to offer the Swiss Airtainer RKN, an innovative active container designed for the safe transport of pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive goods, as part of its Specialized Pharma offering. The bespoke smart container is equipped with integrated solar panels, offering a second layer of protection for temperature-critical shipments (beyond conventional plug-in power sources). Compared to traditional containers, the Swiss Airtainer RKN features a lighter-weight design to support reduced fuel and energy consumption. Built-in compressor technology allows for high precision temperature management, and the unit is also integrated with sensors for real-time tracking, enabling full traceability and integrity.
AI-Powered turnaround management solution deployed in Italy
Assaia International specializes in AI solutions for airport operations, particularly focusing on optimizing aircraft turnarounds and improving apron management. Their flagship product, ApronAI, uses advanced video analytics and machine learning to transform airport ramp operations into more efficient, safer, and more sustainable processes. Utilizing strategically placed cameras across aircraft stands, aerobridges, and the apron, accurate timestamps for turnaround events are generated in real time. By providing real-time visibility and accurate timestamps of turnaround operations, ApronAI improves decision-making and operational efficiency.
ApronAI solution is has now been deployed at Rome's Fiumicino Airport (Aeroporti di Roma), one of the busiest and most prestigious airports in Italy, making Assaia the first enterprise in ADR’s "Runway to the Future Innovation" program to achieve full deployment. ApronAI will operate across 57 gates initially, expanding to all gates as they become available. This also represents the first large-scale deployment of the startup’s software at a Skytrax Five-star airport, further enhancing Fiumicino’s reputation as a leader in aviation innovation. This deployment coincides with a surge in new airlines and routes, ensuring that Fiumicino can maintain stellar on-time performance and exceptional passenger experience.
