The call-for-applications for some of the major national startup competitions in Switzerland is on. Between January and March 2020, startups have the chance to apply to win cash and non-cash prizes, as well as roadshows to China and Silicon Valley.
The year 2020 is only six weeks away and the preparations for the next round of startup competition are in full swing. The following list presents national startup competitions whose application deadline is drawing closer.
W. A. de Vigier – 06 January 2020
The Foundation de Vigier supports the development of innovative business ideas by providing financial aid to ambitious entrepreneurs that want to start up a business or accelerate their development. With a cash prize of CHF500’000 accorded to five winners, the De Vigier award is one of the largest and long-standing award competition in the Swiss startup scene.
Venture leaders Technology – 12 January 2020
From 30 March to 3 April 2020, a team of ten selected startups that want to take the first steps towards expansion will have the opportunity to explore Silicon Valley. During the intensive ten days, the teams will gain market exposure, get feedback from investors and experts. A broad range of activities awaits the participants.
Swiss Economic Awards – 30 January 2020
Held with the framework of the Swiss Economic Forum, the annual Swiss Economic Awards recognises exceptional start-ups in three categories: "Services", "High-tech / Biotech" and "Production/Trade & Industry". Sought after are startups that are already thriving in the economy and an award prize of CHF 75'000 awaits the winners.
Venture leaders China 12 March 2020
The ten-day business development program allows startups to immerse themselves in the Chinese market and to find business opportunities as well as investors as gateways for their expansion. A buffet of activities ranging from investor pitches, workshops to networking events will bring the startups to closer to their expansion goal.

The next edition of »venture» has been revamped: additional award categories/verticals and more funds have been introduced. The jury will nominate one winner from each category and a grand prize-winner that will take home a cash prize of CHF 150,000.
