Alpride, a start-up from the Canton of Neuchâtel, has developed an innovative avalanche airbag system that will be incorporated in the Scott avalanche rucksack. The airbag chambers will be produced by ADVANCE, a Swiss SME with a production facility in Vietnam.

Recent Swiss start-up enterprise Alpride won the BCN prize in 2012 with the development of an innovative avalanche airbag system. The ISPO Award followed in 2014. The real innovation of the system is the use of standard gas cartridges, as found in the lifejacket industry, to activate the device. The development phase is now complete, and the international market launch has been arranged in time for the 2015 winter season. The Alpride System will be incorporated in the Scott avalanche rucksack.

Alpride came to ADVANCE for production and assembly of the airbag chambers (balloon). The newly-built production facility in Vietnam impressed Alpride. Marc-Antoine Schaer: " For Alpride it's very important to ensure a high quality level. With airbag devices, we speak here about safety equipment. ADVANCE has a lot of experience in this type of production, it was an obvious and natural choice to work with them. In addition, we are two Swiss companies precise and meticulous ..." They should know it.  Two of the Alpride founders are previous members of ADVANCE: Marc-Antoine Schaer and Robert Graham. Robert was also a co-founder of ADVANCE and served as designer for 15 years.
