The Foundation for Innovation and Technology (FIT) has awarded a Digital Growth loan of CHF 200,000 to Biped Robotics, a Digital Seed loan of CHF 50,000 to Synature and a Digital Grant of CHF 20,000 to Châtaigne. Biped and its harness for the visually impaired will be launching into new markets, Synature is finalising its biodiversity analysis tool and Châtaigne is designing an alternative to meal delivery services.

Biped Robotics develops NOA, a harness to improve mobility for visually impaired people
The number of people with impaired vision is rising steadily, and now stands at 300 million worldwide, including 6 million blind people. For them, getting around independently is a daily challenge.

Biped Robotics' solution to this is NOA, a shoulder-worn harness equipped with wide-angle cameras that scan the environment. Using artificial intelligence and audible ‘beeps’, the user is warned of obstacles around him. NOA also includes indications as to the presence of key features such as pedestrian crossings and doorways, as well as a GPS navigation system.

Already supported by FIT in 2021 with a Digital Grant, Biped Robotics has since developed its product with over 250 beta testers, obtained Class 1 medical device certification, raised over 2 million Francs and signed distribution agreements with several partners. With this new FIT Digital Growth loan of 200,000 francs, Biped will continue to expand its distribution network and plans to bring NOA to new markets.

Synature: protecting biodiversity through technology
According to the WWF, over a million species are threatened with extinction in the coming decades, but we don't know exactly how many are disappearing every day – a lack of information that is holding back concrete action. In the face of this ecological emergency, Synature is positioning itself as a key player in monitoring and preserving biodiversity.

Using intelligent microphones coupled with advanced algorithms, Synature identifies species present on site and determines trends in biodiversity. Its intuitive platform then enables the data to be clearly visualised, compared and managed, making it easier to take informed decisions about preserving natural ecosystems.

With the support of the FIT Digital Seed loan, Synature is finalising the development of its beta version of intelligent microphones. This will be followed by the creation of a robust industrial design adapted to extreme natural conditions and the roll-out of the solution to its first customers.

Châtaigne: an alternative to meal delivery services
Over the last few years in particular, meal delivery applications have become increasingly popular. Yet they often involve high costs for both customers and restaurants. Châtaigne offers a solution based on artificial intelligence and integrated directly into WhatsApp, enabling restaurants to sell their products commission-free.

The idea behind Châtaigne is simple: reduce the friction caused by downloading a new application or creating an account, by using an application that the general public has already adopted. Customers simply text their order to the WhatsApp phone number allocated to the restaurant. Châtaigne's intelligent employee then processes the messages, enters all the details and preferences, and creates an order summary with the customer's choices. The customer then proceeds to pay, and the order goes straight into the restaurant's system.

Thanks to the FIT Digital Grant of 20,000 francs, Châtaigne will be developing the first version of its solution, including new functions, and launching its first sales.
