During the past spring semester, student partners for the student-led VC Founderful Campus selected seven promising selected for investment. The proposed solutions cover a range of fields including robotics, nuclear fusion energy and ICT.
Founderful Campus is a student-led venture capital firm, set up by Founderful, to support student entrepreneurs at Swiss universities with an investment of CHF 25,000 to allow them to accelerate their development as they prepare for larger rounds. For the spring semester this year, seven projects impressed the committee of student partners, each receiving financial backing.
These are:
BCHAR – Aiming to tackle agricultural waste and climate change issues, the startup uses Biochar Carbon Removal Factories to turn waste into biochar. Starting with a project in Thailand, the team developed a system that fits into large food and beverage operations, making it easier to decarbonize value chains and improve soil health. For organisations, the startup offers carbon credits and a unique Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) solution for transparency and rigorous monitoring of environmental and social impacts.
Helix Robotics – is developing the first commercial soft manipulators for precise, soft, safe and reliable robotics for various applications.
Stack (YC S24) – is an open-source alternative to Auth0 for managed authentication tailored for developers.
Circelec – is focused on developing eco-friendly printed circuit boards for recyclable smart tags. Circelec's focus on eco-friendly printed circuit boards could potentially address the growing issue of electronic waste by making smart tags and other electronic components more recyclable.
Optiverse – developed a Video-to-Video Summarization platform for meetings, offering professionals a cutting-edge solution to streamline workflows and boost productivity. The platform harnesses cutting-edge AI to analyse long video content such as podcasts, educational content, documentaries, conferences, motivational speeches to craft engaging short clips while keeping the most interesting and relevant content.
Firefly Fusion – Founded in 2023, Firefly Fusion is a Franco-Swiss startup focused on developing nuclear fusion technology for clean energy production. Its approach involves designing and operating a tokamak reactor capable of producing hundreds of megawatts of fusion power. Tomaks are donut-shaped machines that use magnets to confine very hot plasmas (gas heated at several million degrees).
